Tim Sullivan presented a program entitled "Humanizing the Insurer From Voir Dire to Closing Arguments" at the DRI Life, Health, Disability and ERISA Claims Seminar in Washington D.C. on April 28, 2006. Tim and San Francisco attorney Tom Herlihy of Kelly, Herlihy & Klein demonstrated techniques they utilize at all stages from pretrial motions through closing argument to humanize the insurance company to a jury and level the playing field. The demonstrations included a mock jury selection, opening statement, cross examinations of plaintiff and plaintiff's expert, direct examination of the corporate witness, and closing argument.
Participating as jurors were Rachel Krause and Richard Maselli. Jere Tolton played the role of the corporate witness.
