Tim Sullivan and TIDA members from around the country presented a program on the advances in technology and their implications for the trucking industry at the Truckload Carriers Association meeting in Indianapolis on May 22, 2007. The program included an update on event data recording technology, an analysis of the decision of whether to download data following an accident, and a discussion of the interpretation and use of that data. In addition, presentations were made concerning the issues created for trucking companies by electronic discovery, and also the effective use of the empathic approach to claim resolution in the aftermath of an accident involving serious injuries or death.
Participating as speakers along with Tim were Doug Rennie from Cincinnati, Brian Anders, M.S.M.E., P.E. of Delta [v] Forensic Engineering, Inc., Frank Stackhouse of Great West Risk Management, and Barham Lewis from Houston. Joe Pappalardo from Cleveland moderated the program.
